Welcome, friends, to this very special section of our David Soul Fans site.
We’ve always loved David for his musical and acting talents and for what he’s meant to us, but we’ve also always admired his social conscience, his principles, and his passion …for fighting for what’s right and just, and for his personal support — not for personal gain or recognition — of causes in which he believes. This is the area of our site where we will least display David’s image in photos, but instead will demonstrate his commitment to his beliefs and his desire to make a positive difference in this world. We believe that this “image” of David is every bit as special and compelling — and also inspiring.
David has already shown us in so many ways his commitment and dedication to making a difference with his life. All you need to do is visit our IN HIS OWN WORDS section to read — and experience — his passionate remarks ON SOCIAL ISSUES & COMMENTARY. David has also been a long-time champion for defending human rights, fighting world hunger, opposing illegal and unnecessary wars, raising awareness about AIDS, and protecting animal rights.
As David has said, “Charity means nothing unless it’s an act.” So, ACTION is what this section ultimately represents. We have long hoped that DSF would not only become the most accurate, comprehensive, respectful, and popular David Soul fan site, but that it would also become the most meaningful in its tribute to David and in its recognition of the fans who’ve always been there for him and who always will be. We want this site to be interactive, yes, but we also want it to be more than just another group connected only as fans of David Soul.
We want DSF to be a COMMUNITY of fans — fans who form true friendships with each other, who are interested in what other fans are doing to help those in need in their own lives, in their communities and beyond. We would ultimately hope that DSF members would set the example for what fans can accomplish when they think beyond fandom (and photos and memorabilia) and look instead to connect with each other and to honor that special person by doing what he’d truly hope they’d do. Please think again about David’s words that appear on our Home Page: “What I would want is that people who have enjoyed what I do get involved on a personal basis, in their local communities … doing hands-on work with those who need our love and attention the most.”
We’ve showcased the social conscience of that actor/singer/humanitarian whom we’ve all loved and respected for most of our lives. PLEASE let us hear from you. Please let us know about your own “causes” and the community service you’re performing — or are inspired to do — in your own lives. Let us know what opportunities there are for our working together and for supporting efforts that are important not only to you, but to all of us. We will feature in this section your stories and your challenges. Learn more about what our DSF community is already doing to promote Alzheimer’s research and treatment, animal welfare, and other important causes. Help us to become that David Soul Fans community that can make a difference together according to David’s wishes and IN HIS NAME.
