Remembering His Beginnings

A guitar, any guitar … is the one thing that represents who I am and where I began. Always try to remember your beginnings.

I suppose next to Paul Michael Glaser, the guitar is probably my oldest and dearest friend. And as with real friends, you go through good times and you go through bad times, difficult times and happy times. This baby (my guitar) has gotten me into more trouble and out of more trouble.

All my life I tried to run away from my looks. I was really a pretty boy, but I hated all that stuff. That blond hunk thing, that ‘gorgeous blue-eyed guy’ image. That was bullshit. … I grew up believing that looks weren’t something you judged someone by. The substance of a person was much more important.

I didn’t care what I did. I can’t be put into a bag. I do whatever I want to do.

I threw a lot of shit up against the walls in different directions and never really focused myself on building a machine.

When you first get that crazy fame, by God, it’s difficult. No one teaches you how to handle that.
